Music Stand

Pieces of oak to make a music stand for Alison

The components for the sheet music rest after planing, thicknessing and cutting Domino slots

And after glueing

The vertical part of the stand, comprising four L-shaped corner pieces ‘wrapping’ two square pieces

The lower, shorter square piece was glued between the four corner pieces and then four sliding dovetail joints cut for the legs. The top of this piece corresponds with the tops of the legs

The upper, longer piece is free to slide vertically to adjust the height of the sheet music holder

An end view of the underside of the main stand showing the glued, square piece and sliding dovetails

The finished stand

The section under the sheet music holder holds a tuner and bow

The three (pairs of) handscrews – from top to bottom – adjust the angle of the sheet music holder, allow the removal of the tuner and bow section and the adjust the stand height
